Not all language apps are equal

 What makes Duolingo different ?

There are a lot of language learning apps out there Babbel, Rosetta Stone, Memrise  but Duolingo stands out for a few big reasons. First of all, it’s free. Most other apps either lock features behind a paywall or ask you to subscribe after a short trial. Duolingo lets you learn every language without paying a cent (though it does offer a premium version with no ads).

Secondly, Duolingo feels more like a game than a lesson. While Rosetta Stone uses a more traditional classroom approach and Babbel focuses on grammar explanations, Duolingo gives you short, interactive lessons with colorful visuals, sounds, and a lot of encouragement from its mascot, Duo the owl.

Finally, Duolingo is just more fun and casual. It’s perfect for busy students who want to squeeze in a few minutes of learning between classes or during a commute. You might not become fluent overnight, but Duolingo helps you build a habit — and that’s what really matters.
